Since few days, nights are not anymore dark. By midsummer, it will be possible to see the centre of the sun when the sun is exactly in the north.

Too heavy load on the trailer that broke down and crashed the thin ice, slowing down and then collapsing snowscooter into a deep tranchée of two ice layers with 50 cm water in between.. hum !?! Rotating scooter toward the shore, a plank under and full gaz I’m going to avoid laisälven for now.

Stora Björnstugan is probably the number one rental property of Sweden with a score of 10/10 over 2500 hotels and properties affiliated to booking.com in Sweden. A warm thanks to all the visitors and friends who came to Laisvallby. Next step for improvement would be high speed internet fiber, drying cabinet, new heaters.. Laisvallby is the place to be 🙂

Last week, we hosted two Germans and two Japanese guests who had difficulties to find hotel rooms available in Arjeplog. Exceptionally, we fixed breakfast with different mornings theme : Japanese, Continental, English,.. At check out, I came for farewell, asking if they enjoyed their stay into our humble mountain lodge far away from main stream hotels ? One Japanese replied : « I spent my life in many hotels all over the world but that’s the very first time I stay in such a place which is not an hotel and here I feel… at home… without my wife. Ha ha ha… » Of course.

(…) Nacreous clouds, sometimes called mother-of-pearl clouds, are rare but once seen are never forgotten. They are mostly visible within two hours after sunset or before dawn when they blaze unbelievably bright with vivid and slowly shifting iridescent colours. They are filmy sheets slowly curling and uncurling, stretching and contracting in the semi-dark sky. Compared with dark scudding low altitude clouds that might be present, nacreous clouds stand majestically in almost the same place – an indicator of their great height. They need the very frigid regions of the lower stratosphere some 15 – 25 km (9 -16 mile) high and well above tropospheric..
